14. Do you have an opinion on storage boxes and their use in our community?

In my opinion, these storage boxes and their use in our community should be allowed as they first are utilized on a temporary basis for construction; second, used for storage in a way that does not create an eyesore or impact neighboring property values; and third, are maintained along with the property.

Storage boxes for a limited purpose, in a limited place, and for a limited time are appropriate. The neighborhood and the neighbors generally can set acceptable standards for storage boxes.

If you are asking about using them on your private residential property, there should be a limit on days that they could remain on a private residential property so as not to be an eye sore for neighbors. For commercial purposes, that period might be extended. There are so many more important issues the city is facing other than storage boxes, in my opinion.

I am not necessary for or against storage boxes; I would say that such storage boxes should be up to code and within current guidelines/ordinances.

Storage boxes play an important role in allowing for cheap expansion and temporary business needs. The issue is where and how they are deployed. I’m comfortable with most applications. In residential settings CC+R’s usually apply. Some limitations may be appropriate but most cases could be handled between property owners. |
