IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO MEMBERSHIP

The Proposition 100 campaign is in full swing with just a few weeks left to cast and return your ballot to the County’s Elections Department. The campaign has focused around a City of Flagstaff ordinance which restricts business to no larger than 125,000 feet and no more than 8% of floor-space dedicated to non-taxable items, for example groceries.
The intent of the City’s ordinance was to limit the ability of larger businesses to locate in Flagstaff. The Chamber of Commerce disagrees with the City’s ordinance and urges a No vote on Proposition 100.
Proposition 100 tells businesses to open somewhere else. We should welcome business and their investments in our community no matter the size. Telling business not to locate in Flagstaff, but seek opportunities in surrounding cities takes sales tax revenue, jobs for local employees, more shopping choices, and out of town shoppers away from Flagstaff.
Losing out of town shoppers, tax revenue, jobs and shopping choices to surrounding towns and communities will certainly have a negative impact on our business community.
Voting No on Prop 100 will ensure we can keep tax revenue, new jobs, shopping choices and shoppers from other communities in Flagstaff.
